Lesser Know Favorites

At GoTickets we don’t just help fans find the right concert tickets, we LOVE music.  This is a segment I hope to continue where we can periodically spotlight some music groups of which you might not be aware.

Okkervil River

Chances you’ve heard of them? If you’re in the Austin, TX area you probably know who they are, but they tour throughout the country and get great turnouts from North Carolina to California.

Why should you listen? Will Sheff is one of the most proficient songwriters of our time, and the tunes are aren’t bad either!

If you only listen to one song: make it “Red” from their fist full album, “Don’t Fall in Love with Everyone You See” - watch the video on YouTube.

The Avett Brothers

Chances you’ve heard of them? Currently touring with and opening for the Dave Matthews Band, the North Carolina band has a huge following in the Old North State and are gaining popularity quickly.

Why should you listen? The Avett Brothers play with passion and a folky rock attitude that will make you want to roll down the windows and sing along.

If you only listen to one song:  This is a tough one for me, The Avett Brothers are easily in my top 5 of favorite bands all-time, and they’ve put out a ton of material.  Give “November Blue” from their album “Country Was” a try - watch the video on YouTube.

Possessed by Paul James

Chances you’ve heard of them? I don’t think I’m going out on a limb to say that you’ve never heard of Possessed by Paul James.  Not many have been lucky enough to experience this one man band of Konrad Wert.

Why should you listen? Good ole fashioned music, played with a lot of heart, and certainly a change of pace for most listeners.

If you only listen to one song: This one is easy, “Men Men Men” is the closest thing to a mainstream song you’ll find from PbPJ - watch the video on YouTube.
