2009 U2 360 Tour

U2 Reviews from Barcelona

UPDATE:  Here’s some good video from the first night in Barcelona

The U2 360 Tour kicked off last night from Barcelona’s Camp Nou as Bono and the boys played a fantastic show including tributes to Michael Jackson and a live link-up with the International Space Station!  U2 also played two songs that haven’t been heard live in over a decade, The Unforgettable Fire and Ultraviolet.  The band will continue to tour through Europe until late August (get your U2 360 European Tour Tickets if you haven’t already) and the band will start in North America at Soldier Field in Chicago on September 12th.  There are still a lot of U2 Tickets available for most shows on either leg of the tour, so if you didn’t get yours when they first went on sale you’re not out of luck yet!

The Telegraph’s review of last night’s U2 concert:

“Opening with a nervous sounding Breathe from the new album No Line on the Horizon, the band then found their touring legs with sinewy versions of Get On Your Boots and Magnificent.

Digging into their back catalogue as the show progressed – Angel Of Harlem, Sunday Bloody Sunday and a rarely-aired Unforgettable Fire, the band also threw an affectionate nod to Michael Jackson with snippets of The Man In The Mirror and delightfully, Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough (the song of the night).”

and from Ben Harding’s review at Reuters:

“Featuring one of the biggest concert stages ever built, the U2 360 Tour will visit 31 cities across Europe and North America and entertain an estimated three million people. More dates are expected to be announced in 2010.

“All around Spain, all around the world, things are difficult. Thank you for coming back to us again and again,” Bono said during the high octane show.

The quartet, one of the world’s most successful acts, opened with “Breathe” from their acclaimed new album “No Line on the Horizon”, and the crowd came to life with the anthem-style “Magnificent” on a hot summer’s night.”
